This post is about blatant lies.

intentional untruth; a falsehood.
2. something intended or serving to convey a false impression;

4. the charge or accusation of lying.

–verb (used without object)
5. to speak falsely or utter untruth knowingly, as with intent to
deceive.
6. to express what is false; convey a false impression
.
When i was a Jehovah's witness, the very thought of whether the organization could lie or deceive was abhorent. Unthinkable. Every thing was not only believable but guarenteed to be true. The holy spirit directed men of the Governing Body were the very epitome of uprightness and truth.
What i want to document here are things that are quite frankly, lies. The very defintions as listed by dictionary.com.
Things stated to make us think that what was said, was never said. Things done that are denied.

First, a real good one where they lie about what they actually said.

The Watchtower magazine of Jan 1 1989 page 12.

So, when we got our copy back in 89 this is what we read. It actually sparked off a bit of conjecture that Armageddon would thus have to come by the year 2000. Not that this was said in print but this paragraph had that effect none the less.BUT, when the bound volume came out later what do we find? Below is the same page and paragraph but from the bound volume that most Jehovah's Witnesses would have on the shelf, the single issue likely long discarded

Now i will also point out that the WT2008 Library says the same.

What is the lie? Answered by Dictionary.com:

2. something intended or serving to convey a false impression;
imposture.
3. an inaccurate or false statement.

Yes. In the bound volume they are giving a false impression of what was actually said. It is a blatant inaccurate and false statement. Was it a mistake? A 'typo' that slipped passed the Governing Body? Perhaps it was, we will never know. But either way, it could have been amended by telling the brotherhood that an error had been made and it was corrected in the bound volume. But no, nothing said and they deliberatly perpertrated a fraud.

It is not the first time and i suspect it will not be the last time this is done. In law, any Corporation that misrepresents its past statements or history is commiting fraud.
